The brief: This garden was designed for a new build four storey family home. We needed to link the newly excavated basement and the upper garden within a design which would match the grand stature of the house. The generous beds on the steps were planted to recall the owners' favourite Provencal garden. The basement paving allows free drainage of rainwater to the void beneath. The upper garden has space for entertaining and play, with a pergola to add width to the vista.
