Design Process
My style is adaptable. I aim to produce a garden design to match your dreams, your location, and your budget!
A garden design project is not just a financial investment it is a personal one. From inception to completion, it can be challenging but it is also rewarding – giving you the opportunity to transform your home environment and enhance your life.
Feverfew Garden Design will steer you through this process and help you achieve your dream garden.
My rates are based on those recommended by the Society of Garden Designers. The services I offer can be adapted to suit your project and your budget, depending on the level of work involved. Payment can be agreed by stages of the garden design process (Concept work, Master plan or Planting plan for example) as well as fees per item of service (Planning applications for example), or a set percentage fee scale relating to the final cost of the build.
Garden Design Services:
1. Consultancy: I can visit your existing garden and advise on options for a new design or just a make-over. This could be for all or only part of the garden. I am happy to stage projects over time if required
2. Survey: I take extensive measurements and levels to ensure the best and most practical design, backed by a full photographic survey and site analysis
3. Design: Using sketching and CAD drawings (using Vectorworks), I will produce concept work to help you visualise the new garden before proceeding to the definitive Master plan
4. Choosing a contractor: I will help you find and decide on the best contractor, usually by a tendering process
5. Project monitoring: Overseeing the construction period, addressing any queries from client of contractor
6. Planting: I prefer to undertake buying and planting for your new garden myself, to ensure that you get the best possible plants and that they all get planted the right way round!
7. Maintenance: I can draw up an annual maintenance schedule month by month or season by season, to give you the confidence to look after your new garden or to help your gardener do so. I am also happy to come and advise on maintenance plans for any garden, not just those I have designed myself
8. Aftercare: I aim to visit at intervals as your garden takes shape and matures. Even the best design may need a little tweaking once you have had the time to sit back and enjoy it!
9. Gifts: Why not buy a friend some expert advice? I am happy to consult on this basis and it makes for a thoughtful and enduring gift
