The brief: The perennial conflict between trampoline and garden meant that the usable space in this 10 m x 7 m plot was significantly reduced. The owners had already added a raised patio but needed help to reclaim their garden space as what remained was largely unusable. We widened the steps down to the garden to create a more enticing approach. We used the sunny side for planting and seating, and installed an artificial lawn which will withstand both the shade and a new trampoline. Granite setts make the small space more interesting as does the planting, which also contains a selection of new fruit and veg for the family to enjoy.
